A new global study reveals that destination health certificates instill trust among agencies and travelers

first_imgHealth and safety certificates of destinationsand are still key to recovery of the tourism industry, the results of a study that reveals the impact of the corona virus pandemic on industry and the future recovery of global travel distribution, conducted by Travel Consul, International Tourism Marketing Organization. In the period from 14 to 28 September 2020, more than a thousand tour operators and owners of travel agencies from over 20 countries participated in the global Travel Consul survey.  The greatest interest in monastic travels The survey also shows a growing interest in independent travel (66%), as well as hotels and resorts (64%) and all-inclusive resorts (60%). When asked what are the main considerations of the client when choosing a destination, respondents mostly answered that the confirmation of the health and safety of the destination or health certificate (74%) as a key issue, and thus a motive for coming. Management of the COVID-19 pandemic by the government of the destination country and prices are in second and third place, respectively. Also, 45% of distribution partners believe that cancellation policies and supplier flexibility have a positive impact on their business. Croatia is one of the countries that has received the WTTC seal for safe travel , which certainly fits into the results of this research, ie gives us a big plus, since readiness and security will be the biggest currency. Source: Travel Consul Last minute bookings are becoming increasingly important Similar to the first round of this survey, 70% of respondents believe that changing the cancellation policy or conditions will be one of their main tasks and changes in 2020 and 2021. However, the integration of insurance policy offers has so far increased by only 12%. The next three main responses include marketing campaigns for consumers, then presenting useful and timely data, and sharing information with trading partners.  UNWTO LAUNCHES INTERNATIONAL CODE INITIATIVE FOR PRIMARY TOURIST PROTECTION Clients are waiting for a decision on when to travel (48%) or book an international trip less than a month in advance (21%). But research also tells how last minute reservations are becoming increasingly important for European travelers (34%). In contrast, 31% of North American clients book a vacation seven months to a year before departure. To recall, the WTTC created the Safe Travel Stamp in May this year, to allow travelers to identify destinations and businesses around the world that have adopted global standardized health and hygiene protocols. RELATED NEWS: Thus, the introduction of health and safety certificates (almost 60%) is the most important action that destination organizations can take to help partners in travel distribution. It is also important to point out that the UNWTO has launched an initiative to develop an international code with the aim of legal protection of passengers, so that this important part is regulated at the level of the whole world or at least over 100 UNWTO member states.
