Wilson 181, Cerritos 199 Max Do shot a 3-under 33 at Recreation Park to lead the Bruins (2-0) to a nonleague victory. Boris Stantchev shot a 34 for Wilson. Raymond Ho led the Dons (0-1) with a 38. Huntington Beach 214, Poly 215 Eric Frazzetta and Ken Kaberlein each shot 39 at Recreation Park but the Jackrabbits (0-1) were edged in nonleague play. Boys tennis Redondo 10, Poly 8 The visiting Jackrabbits (0-1) won six doubles sets but lost in nonleague play. Jon Bhatia and David Kaufman went 3-0 from their No. 1 doubles position, as did Justin Hsieh and Darin Im at No. 3. In singles, freshman Kyle Kinney won twice. Lakewood 15, Downey 3 Junior Derek Porter went 3-0 at No. 1 singles to lead the Lancers to a nonleauge victory in their home opener. Jason Wall also went 3-0 at No. 2 singles. Cerritos 11, Marina 7 The visiting Dons (1-0) won eight sets in doubles to claim a nonleague victory. Bongki Min and Michael Lu went 3-0 at No. 1 doubles. The No. 3 team of Justin Min and Jonathan Tso also went 3-0. Girls swimming Millikan 110, Gahr 54 Sophomore Mindy Virosteck won the 200 freestyle in 2:26.02 and was part of the winning 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay for the Rams in nonleague action.
