BEAUMONT, Texas – At Lamar University, student-athletes take pride in giving back to the community not just during the holidays, but throughout the year. “The LU students really got the campus looking fantastic,” a Buckner official said. “Your students are pretty amazing.” LU softball player Kelly Meeuwsen, who serves as president of LU’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee, continues to increase its involvement in the Golden Triangle. The work will go one long after the presents are unwrapped and the decorations put away. As part of the “Southland Gives Back” initiative, the Southland Conference will profile a community service outing from each of our 13 member institutions each weekday from Dec. 6 to 22. Once things got back to normal on the LU campus, the Cardinals turned their sights toward the holidays, starting with the events at Buckner International’s Beaumont campus. LU student-athletes helped decorate Buckner’s buildings, helping to brighten the holidays for the foster children and those transitioning from foster care to independent living. Lamar University athletics has partnered with Buckner for many years to make the holiday better for its residents. Home basketball games in November saw the Cardinals collect non-perishable foods for the Food Bank of Southeast Texas. In October, the LU softball team raised funds for the American Cancer Society at its annual Strike Out Cancer game against Lamar State College-Port Arthur. The Cardinals didn’t stop there. Next up was the Arc of Beaumont’s winter formal, which is for adults 16 and older with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The LU student-athletes helped in whatever way was needed, from serving food and clearing the tables to dancing with the Arc members. “It’s important for our student-athletes to have a positive college experience, and community service feeds into that,” said LU academic specialist Tori Cummings, who helps oversee the community-service projects. “They can use their talents in different ways and build relationships that really benefit themselves, Lamar University, and the Beaumont community. The more student-athletes connect with people outside athletics, the better prepared they are to make meaningful contributions to society during and after their time at Lamar University.” All year long the Cardinals are collecting tabs from soda cans to help support Ronald McDonald house. The semester barely got started before student-athletes from almost every LU team were pitching in various ways to help with the recovery efforts to help those affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.

JOCKEY QUOTESVICTOR ESPINOZA, CE CE, WINNER: “I thought there was just one speed horse (favored Hard Not to Love), but it changed and that helped me. We were able to take back a little and she was so full of run, I wanted to make the leader work a little bit at the three eighths, so I let my filly go a little. Down the lane, she was in control. She’s come back better than ever. She ran against some of the best fillies in the world in New York (fourth in the Grade I Acorn at Belmont Park June 8) and she ran just like she ran the other day (when a 4 ¼ length allowance winner going 6 ½ furlongs here on Feb. 17).” TRAINER QUOTESMICHAEL McCARTHY, CE CE, WINNER: “She was able to keep her face clean. Victor did a great job of getting her tucked in coming to the half mile pole. (Went) head and head with the good filly (Hard Not to Love), it’s nice to watch her get the job done.“I’ve always thought she was really good. Last spring, I thought she could beat any kind, unfortunately she got hurt after the Acorn (June 8, Belmont), which made us take a step back and take some time off. She has come back and hasn’t missed a beat. I can’t thank Bo (Hirsh) enough for letting us take our time and pick our spots, I kind of wanted to wait for Keenland, but I’m glad we didn’t after today’s result. All the credit goes to Bo and Candy.”BO HIRSH, OWNER, CE CE, WINNER: “She could be the best I’ve ever had, she’s a half-sister to Papa Clem and we’re very proud of her mother Miss Houdini, who is 21 years old today and still going strong. I am just so excited today. We came out here because we had to find a race to run this filly in and I said let’s take our shot with nothing else for her to get to the next level and she beat all our expectations. I thought it might be a little tough to win this one today. I am pleasantly surprised.” NOTES: The winning owner is Bo Hirsh, LLC.

Marum said after the game that Blackhawks are a quality side and it was a narrow win.The coach admitted that they did too many errors in the second half but they were lucky to win the game by one point.“We just have to go back to the recorded videos and see where we went wrong and we can polish up in those areas.“We’ve won five out of six games but we still got a lot of work to do,” Marum said. The coach added that with former Hunter Willie Minoga on the Blackhawks side, their focus was on everyone out there and not just on Minoga.“We wanted Willie to have a good game against us and in front of his home fans.“He got away with that try, I think he wasn’t happy about the game but he had his family and friends backing him today,” Marum said.Blackhawks coach Kristian Woolf said it was a very tough game where both teams put up a fight as expected.“I was really proud of our effort in that sense because we made way too many errors.“The fact that we had plenty of opportunities where we could have built a little pressure and given ourselves an opportunity to win the game but every time we did, we made errors,” Woolf said. Both teams thanked the crowd for the support.
If someone wanted the definitive data on the government that Messi has exercised during the 2010-2019 decade before the years changed in the calendar, it could be this. According to data offered by Transfermarkt, Messi closes the last ten calendar years, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2019, with 522 goals in 521 games. A fact that shakes and explains the six Gold boots that the Argentine has taken with his six trophies Pichichi respective. Christian He scored 477 goals in 489 games, another spectacular figure that shows that the two have lived on another football planet, at least on the goal scorer. The next in the ranking is Lewandowski, with 324 goals in 454 games, the first of the humans. Behind the, Cavani (309 goals in 447 games) and close the Top-5 Luis Suarez (303 goals in 445 games). 10 Worse Messi’s domain is not limited to the scoring aspect. The Argentine has also been the king of assistance in the 2010-2019 decade. No one gave more assists than he did in the five major leagues as reported Transfermarkt. It was 136. Say Maria gave 108 goal passes and Özil, 106. Müller is fourth with 103 and Christian, accused by the general rule of selfishness, was the fifth best assistant of the decade with 95.
